mt4wdsu1.jpg (13826 bytes)4 Wheel Drive and Sport Utility Magazine arranged an Advertiser's run at Jeep Safari this year.  Phil Howell led 24 vehicles out on Hwy 128.  Rick Russell served as the tail gunner.  About 30 miles from Moab we turned left the other side of the Dewey bridge to enter the Dome Plateau area.

mt4wdsu3.jpg (12457 bytes)Some large caves were the first feature of the exclusive run.  The group spent some time exploring several old natural caves in the cliff side.  mt4wdsu2.jpg (12569 bytes)A couple of the Currie Enterprises Jeeps are shown in front of the caves in the photo to the right.

mt4wdsu5.jpg (15307 bytes)Pat and Jan Gremillion pose in front of their Bronco.   Pat is pointing to a Band-Aid on the side of his 37" Hummer tired Bronco.   Pat and Jan own and operate Premier Power Welder and Pull Pal.  Later in the day Pat used the Premier Power Welder under his hood to charge Tom Wood's battery.   Pat spends a lot of time doing field welding on broken 4Xs as a good will gesture to promote the Premier Power Welder.  The 4X4NOW TJ will soon be equipped with one also.

mt4wdsu6.jpg (8660 bytes)Phil sent the group up on some slick rock for a group picture.  mt4wdsu7.jpg (12203 bytes)A front view from ground level may show up in a future issue of 4Wheel Drive and Sport Utility Magazine.  Then we were off on some faint seldom used trails to an abandoned mine.

mt4wdsu8.jpg (14205 bytes)Sharon poses in front of one of the abandoned cabins at the mine.  mt4wdsu9.jpg (16379 bytes)The buildings seemed to be constructed out of railroad ties.  There was an old abandoned car shell and equipment too.  The actual mines are still open and nearby.

mt4wdsu0.jpg (13900 bytes)We found some challenging wheeling in a wash on the way out.  4 Wheel Drive and Sport Utility also provided the Advertisers a meal at the Sunset Grill in Moab.  The Sunset Grill was previously the extravagant hillside residence of Charlie Steen who discovered Uranium in Moab.
